Antarctican Society Photo Library is Here!

About the Photo Library

The Antarctican Society Photo Library is derived primarily from the Society’s Slide Scanning Service. Beginning in 2009, members have submitted their Antarctic slide collections for scanning and archiving. In a few cases, the collections were already digitized and the authors simply donated them to the Society. In all cases, the authors or their heirs have given the Society permission to post the collections in our Photo Library.

Metadata (approximate date, subject, descriptions, etc.) are included for each image. Usually, the authors have provided this information. However, when the author has passed away or did not provide the information, a “best guess” is substituted. Viewers of the images are encouraged to submit recommended metadata changes or enhancements to webmaster@antarctican.org.

If you are a member, you will need to login using your assigned username and password and then go to Members > Photo Library on the home page navigation bar.

The Antarctican Society Photo Library is a Member benefit. If you are not a member and would like to join the Society and enjoy this and other significant benefits, Click Here.
