2001 - NSF "Teachers Experiencing Antarctica and the Arctic (TEA)". Guy Guthridge placed me with Antarctic scientist Dr. Samuel Bowser on his project "Seasonal Dynamics of Giant Agglutinated Foraminifora" (2 months in the field at Explorers Cove Nov./Dec. 2001. At the time, I was a 4th grade teacher (retired as K-8 teacher). For the past 6 years, I have been a Interpretive Park Ranger at Denaili National Park and Preserve in Alaska. I also participated in the Deep Earth Academy with Dr. Mark Leckie transferring his research to students in 2007-08. Dr. Leckie is currently participating in the JOIDES Revolution Project drilling in the Ross Sea to study the history of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet.
