The Philatelic Corner is reserved for mail cachets, covers, envelopes signed by historic Antarctic figures, and anything else of Antrarctic philatelic interest. There are other philatelic sites devoted to Antarctic and polar stamps and envelopes, such as www.polarphilately.com and www.polarphilatelists.org. However, this section is reserved for philatelic material contributed by our members and readers, and if you look at what is here, you find it well worth visiting! To see the content, simply click on the "Reference" item for each entry.
This is a fascinating collection of covers and cachets that Paul deliberately set about to collect as a participant in the original International Geophysical Year. To see a detailed explanation by Paul of how this collection came about, click HERE . Of particular interest is the envelope and cachet from the Transantarctic Expedition signed by ALL members of both the Fuchs party crossing from the Wedell Sea and the Hillary support party starting from Scott Base. Paul believes there are less than a dozen of these historic covers in existence! We are proud to display these rare covers on our website.
